In October 2023, NASA launched the Psyche mission, beginning its journey to a unique metal-rich asteroid orbiting the Sun between Mars and Jupiter. What makes the asteroid Psyche unique is that it may consist largely of metal from the core of a planetesimal–an object that formed early in our solar system that can help us better understand planets like ours.
